ORAL SURGERY NEAR YOU
Oral surgery is performed by a periodontist who has advanced training and specializes in oral surgery procedures. This type of surgery includes any type of work that is done on the teeth, gums, jaw, or surrounding facial structures.
When Do I Need to See a Periodontist?
While many procedures can be done within our dental clinic, there are certain circumstances where we may make a referral to a periodontist. These include severe cases of tooth decay, broken teeth, gum disease, bone loss in the jaw, impacted teeth, and oral cancer. Your dentist will discuss possible specialist referrals if required.
What To Expect During Oral Surgery
Whether you have a surgical procedure done in our office or with a specialist, making sure you are comfortable during the procedure is a priority. In most cases, you will be offered conscious sedation options such as nitrous oxide gas, oral sedation in the form of a pill, or intravenous sedation. However, when general anesthesia is required, the surgery will take place in a medical environment with an anesthesiologist.
